Rock Band Glay to Perform 3 Concerts in California

posted on by Egan Loo
First overseas concerts since 2002 and first American concerts ever

The popular four-man rock band Glay will perform for the first time in the United States when the group heads to two Californian cities for three concerts in August. The group leader Takuro and vocalist Teru made the announcement during a live appearance in a Tokyo FM studio in Shibuya, Tokyo. The first concert will be at The Fillmore, a concert hall with a 1,200-person capacity, in San Francisco on August 12. The House of Blues Sunset Strip in Hollywood will host the two finals concerts on August 15 and 16.

Glay performed songs for the Kaikan Phrase (Sensual Phrase), Survival 2.7D, and Yamato Takeru anime. Takuro also composed a theme song in the live-action NANA 2 film, and he and band guitarist Hisashi made cameos as crowd extras in the live-action Casshern film. It has been six years since Glay's last concert overseas, when the group performed in the Chinese capital of Beijing in October of 2002. There are no plans for an American CD release, but Takuro said that the group "will continue seeking new challenges" as it marks its 20th anniversary.
