Interview, signing with director will kick off weekend-long "Anime Now" program

On Friday, June 20 at 6:20 p.m., the London-based
British Film Institute (BFI) will host a screening of
Makoto Shinkai's
5cm per Second anime film, which will be preceded by an on-stage interview with the director. Following the screening, Shinkai will also sign copies of his DVDs and art books. It will be the first event in the
Anime Now series of films that the BFI has scheduled throughout the weekend,
Satoshi Kon's
Paprika will follow the Shinkai screening at 8:20 p.m. on Friday. The line-up on Saturday, June 21 consists of
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time at 1:20 p.m., both live-action
Death Note movies (at 3:20 and 5:50 p.m.), and
Tekkonkinkreet. The program will be rounded out by Shinkai's
The Place Promised in Our Early Days, on Sunday, June 22 at 3.50 p.m.,
Appleseed: Ex Machina at 6:20 p.m., and
Vexille at 8:40 p.m.
