Performance at Brooklyn's Sakura Matsuri; Kinokuniya to host Death Note Day

The Japanese singer Ai Kawashima will perform during the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival on May 2 in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and she will also appear at New York City's Kinokuniya Bookstore on May 1. Before Kawahima's Kinokuniya meet-and-greet session at 5:30 p.m. on May 1, the bookstore will screen One Piece: The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventure in Alabasta at 4:00 p.m. Kawashima performed the theme songs for this One Piece film and Makoto Shinkai's The Place Promised in Our Early Days. Kawashima also voiced the role of Mayday in the Japanese version of The One Piece film.

The same Kinokuniya store will hold a Death Note Day on April 28. The event will include a screening of the first episode from the anime adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's original supernatural suspense manga, as well as a giveaway. Viz Pictures will screen Hideo Nakata's Death Note: L, change the WorLd film in American theaters with English subtitles on April 29 and with English dubbing on April 30.
