Ristorante Paradiso's Ono Starts Tsuratsurawaraji Manga

posted on by Egan Loo
Story about shōgun-era lord's life on the road between home and capital

Natsume Ono, the manga creator of Ristorante Paradiso and House of Five Leaves, has launched a new manga series called Tsuratsurawaraji ~Bizen Kumada-ke Sankin Emaki~ in this year's 28th issue of Kodansha's Morning 2 magazine on Friday.

The story is set in Japan during the Edo period (1603-1868). To control his daimyō lords, the shōgun orders them to move back and forth from their provincial home and the capital, where they must spend half their time. The story follows the long journeys of the daimyō Kumada's family between the family's Okayama home in southwestern Japan and their second home in the capital.

The same Morning 2 issue also features the launch of Mugenjima, the first published manga by illustrator and game graphic designer Yūkei Nakagawa.

Viz Media began posting installments of Ono's House of Five Leaves manga on its new SigIkki website in May. Viz is also publishing Ono's Ristorante Paradiso manga next March. Crunchyroll has been streaming this year's television anime adaptation of Ristorante Paradiso.
