Actor Shun Oguri and actress Mao Inoue will star in a live-action television series adaptation of Midori Natsu and Kiyoshi Chikuyama's Veterinarian Dolittle manga, and the show will premiere this October on Sunday nights on the TBS network.
Oguri will play Kenichi "Dolittle" Tottori — a foul-mouthed, stingy, but skilled veterinarian. His Hana Yori Dango [2005] co-star Mao Inoue will play the heroine Asuka Tajima. Hiroki Narimiya (Gokusen, NANA) will play a rival veterinarian.
The original manga has been running in Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine since 2002, and the eighth volume is shipping this month.
