WOTA London club night on 26th February

posted on by Andrew Osmond
First 2011 meeting of the anime song club

The club WOTA London has announced its first meeting of 2011 on Saturday February 26th, from 7pm until midnight. Since 2009, WOTA London has been playing anime songs on the dancefloor, along with Sentai, Tokusatu and Seiyuu songs, and many others.

The event will feature a 'J-CORE' guest DJ, Tanuki, and UKB48, a doujin (cover) group of Japan's AKB48 idol singers.

The venue will be Juno in Shoreditch, on 134-135 Shoreditch High Street (the nearest tubes are Old Street and Liverpool Street - see map). The entry fee is £6 (£4 in advance) and entry is restricted to over-18s.

"Wota" (ヲタ - pronounced ota) is a shortened version of the Japanese word "otaku," and refers to idol-otaku. It is also often used in conjunction with a particular area of interest, for example anime fans are referred to as "anime-wota."
