Previous single-day sales record was Diamond & Pearl's 780,000

The retail news source ICv2 reports that the Nintendo DS videogames Pokémon Black and Pokémon White sold a combined total of 1,080,000 units within 24 hours of their March 6 release. The franchise's previous single-day sales record, for 2007's Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, was 780,000 units in 24 hours.
