Short Anime Shown at London Animation Festival

Runs from August 26 to September 4.

The London International Animation Festival, which will be held from from August 26 to September 4, includes several animated short films from Japan. The first events will be at London's Barbican Centre, and the later screenings will be at the Horse Hospital in Bloomsbury, see below.

Barbican Events

Saturday August 27: Komaneko's Christmas, 20 minutes, 2009 (pictured). A children's film directed by Tsuneo Goda, who is best known as the creator of the furry NHK mascot character Domo. Showing in LIAF Family Screening at 11 a.m.

This item is also repeated at the Rio Cinema near Dalston Kingsland Station (directions) on Saturday September 3 at 1.30 p.m.

Saturday August 27: Suiren, 3 minutes, 2010, Tomoya Kimpara. Showing in Siggraph Highlights at 4.15 p.m (cert 15).

The Undertaker and the Dog, 4 minutes, Shin Hashimoto, 2010. Showing in International Programme 1 at 7 p.m (cert 15).

Sunday August 28: In a Pig's Eye, 10 minutes, Atsushi Wada, 2010. Showing in International Programme 2 at 6.45 p.m (cert 15).

Metropolis, 5 minutes, Mirai Mizue, 2009. Showing in International Programme 6 - Abstract Showcase at 8.45 p.m (cert 15). No relation to the Osamu Tezuka manga Metropolis or the Rintarō feature film.

Friday September 2: Construction, 3 minutes, Mirai Mizue, 2010. Showing in International Panorama 3 at 9 p.m.

Saturday September 3: Music video for Toru Sato's And and, directed by Mirai Mizue; music video for Van She, directed by Daihei Shibata; music video for Subtle's The Mercury Craze, co-directed by Yū Satō and Marc Reisbig; and music video for Themselves' Roman is as Roman Does, directed by Yū Satō. All four films are showing in Music Video Session at 8 p.m.

Meat or Die (Yans! Gans!) / Meat05:Linda' , 2 mins, Tai Murayama, 2010, showing in Late Night Bizarre at 10 p.m.
