The November issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine is announcing on Wednesday that the anime adaptation of Ritz Kobayashi and Aguri Igarashi's Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A manga will reunite the staff from the first Saki anime series.
Specifically, Manabu Ono will once again direct at Studio Gokumi, which is composed of former staffers from Gonzo's fifth studio. Other returning staffers include assistant director Kenji Seto, series script editor and screenwriter Tatsuhiko Urahata, and character designer and chief animation director Masakatsu Sasaki. Bandai Visual's Lantis label will once again produce the music. The new television anime project will premiere next spring.
Gonzo's fifth studio produced the first 14 episodes of the first Saki television anime in 2009, but Picture Magic took over for the rest of that earlier anime after Gonzo had to restructure. Kobayashi created the original Saki manga, and Igarashi is best known for drawing Bamboo Blade before handling Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A.
