Rintaro, Madhouse Animate 2nd Meiji Candy Commercial

The Meiji candy company's official "Megumi & Taiyō" project website confirmed that the anime studio Madhouse and the director Rintaro (Galaxy Express 999, Metropolis) are returning to animate and direct the campaign's second commercial. The project promotes the February 28 release of Meiji's fruit juice gummy candy with special packaging in four flavors: golden pineapple, peach, grape, and lemon. As with the first commercial, Yūsuke Nakamura (The Tatami Galaxy) is designing the characters.
The first "Megumi and Taiyō" commercial depicted the reunion of a girl named Megumi (Ai Hashimoto), who was raised near a grape orchard, and her childhood friend Taiyō (Sakuma Kazuyuki). The voice actress Nana Mizuki will contribute the "Space-Time Sapphire" theme song and play Megumi, while Tomokazu Sugita will voice Taiyō in the new commercial.
The "Megumi and Taiyō II" commercial will center on the pair as the mystery of Taiyō's missing "sapphire Roman" grapes unfolds. People can follow three official Twitter accounts to find the culprit in the "Tweet Mystery" campaign. The new 60-second commercial will premiere in Japan on Saturday.
Meiji's official website is currently streaming a digest movie from the first commercial project. The 30-second version of the first commercial can be viewed below.
