Mardock Scramble Manga Ends in Japan

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Yoshitoki Ōima's manga based on Tow Ubukata's science fiction novel series

The June issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine published the final chapter in Tow Ubukata and Yoshitoki Ōima's Mardock Scramble manga on Wednesday. Ōima began serialization on the manga in 2009, and Kodansha released the manga's sixth volume in December.

Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga in North America, and the company will publish the fifth volume in June.

Viz Media's Haikasoru imprint released Ubukata's original Mardock Scramble science fiction novel series last year. Sentai Filmworks is releasing the Mardock Scramble film trilogy in North America on DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

In the story, a teenage prostitute named Rune Balot is murdered in an explosion. However, Dr. Easter saves her, and Balot is resurrected as an advanced cyborg. Balot takes on the worst of Mardock City's criminals as she looks for vengeance.

The same issue of Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine published the final chapter in Jin Kobayashi's (Natsu no Arashi!, School Rumble) Ichiro Heian! manga.
