Chōjin Locke Sci-Fi Manga Gets New Series by Original Creator

Yuki Hijiri's Chōjin Locke: Toki no Kodomo-tachi to reveal 'another page in galaxy's history'

The June issue of Media Factory's Monthly Comic Flapper magazine announced a new series in Yuki Hijiri's Locke the Superman franchise on Thursday. The tentatively titled Chōjin Locke: Toki no Kodomo-tachi (Locke the Superman: Children of Time) will start in the next issue on June 5. The story is set after the destruction of Master Yūji, and the magazine promises that the manga will reveal "another page in the history of the galaxy."

The original Locke the Superman manga ran in at least three different magazines from 1967 to 1989. It chronicled an immortal figure's adventures at different periods throughout time. It inspired a movie and three original video anime projects (Locke the Superman: Lord Leon, Locke the Superman: Mirror Ring, Locke the Superman: New World Battle Team).

The April issue of Shonen Gahosha's Young King magazine also published the first part of a Locke spin-off entitled "Chōjin Locke Gaiden: Ankoku no Kishi" (Locke the Superman Side Story: Knights of Darkness) in February. The story revolves around a mercenary corps (the Order of Darkness) that was introduced in the original Locke the Superman work. The second part of the new manga will be published in Young King's May issue on March 19.
