North American video game publisher Aksys Games announced on Tuesday that it will release Idea Factory and Design Factory's Hakuōki: Stories of the Shinsengumi (Hakuōki Junsouroku) PlayStation 3 game.

Aksys Games notes that the game includes "additional events that add roughly 20 hours of content." Players can also unlock a series of short stories featuring the game's cast in a modern-day Japanese high school. The game will also feature a media gallery, and DLC with art gallery archives and side stories.

The game originally shipped in Japan for the PS3 in June 2010.

Aksys Games previously released the original Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom PSP game in February 2012, the Hakuōki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi action adventure game for the PSP in North America in February 2013, and the Hakuōki: Memories of the Shinsengumi Nintendo 3DS game last month.

The game franchise from Idea Factory has spawned numerous anime adaptations. The Hakuōki anime franchise includes the 12-episode Hakuōki series, the 10-episode sequel series Hakuōki Hekketsu-roku, the 12-episode Hakuōki Reimeiroku prequel series, and the six-episode Hakuōki Sekkaroku OAV series. The franchise also includes two films, the first of which premiered in Japan on August 24 under the name Hakuōki: Daichishō Kyoto Ranbu (Hakuōki: Chapter 1 Kyoto Dance). Sentai Filmworks has released the three television anime series and the OAV series in North America.
