Man Arrested for Uploading The Wind Rises, Resident Evil: Damnation on Foreign Site

On Monday, police in Gunma Prefecture and Tomioka City arrested a 34-year-old unemployed man from Nabari City on suspicion of uploading the anime films The Wind Rises and Resident Evil: Damnation on the servers of a foreign video-streaming site without the copyright holders' permission. The suspect allegedly uploaded Resident Evil: Damnation on the servers of FC2, a video-streaming site run by the California-based FC2, Inc., around July 18. The suspect is also accused of uploading a 30-minute digest of The Wind Rises, that was recorded secretly in a theater, on November 15.
The suspect reportedly admitted to the charges, saying that he wanted to be thanked by others.
