News L.A. Fiesta Matsuri to Host Godzilla Special Effects Director Koichi Kawakita

The Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in Los Angeles will host two special screenings of the Godzilla vs. Biollante film. The center will celebrate Godzilla's 60th anniversary with guest Koichi Kawakita, the special effects director from Godzilla vs. Biollante. The center will also host Norihiko Iwasaki of Marbling Fine Arts Company.
Both screenings will be held on May 3. The first screening at 3:00 p.m. PDT will be dubbed in English while the second screening at 6:00 p.m. PDT will be subtitled. Both guests will give a live demonstration of special effects using miniatures following each screening. After the second screening, Anime Jungle will host a "G in Jungle" panel, Q&A and autograph session with the guests, and a special screening of Kawakita and Iwasaki's independent special-effects short "The God of Clay."
Admission for the screenings is US$15.
Gareth Edwards' 2014 Godzilla film remake will open in theaters on May 16.
