47-year-old voice actress Yuko Minaguchi (Sailor Moon's Sailor Saturn, Yawara's title character, Kanon's Akiko Minase) reported on her blog on Monday that she has returned to Japan after studying abroad in the United States. She spent 19 months in New York, and she already lined up her first job after returning: the narration for the Trinity Irish Dance show on TV Tokyo on Tuesday, May 6.
Minaguchi had announced in 2012 that she was taking a break from her work to study abroad. She explained that it has been her dream to live in another country and learn to speak English well. She made her decision after reaching her 30th anniversary as a professional voice actress, producing her first theatrical play, and being affected by 2011's Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.
Voice actress Shino Kakinuma (Sailor Moon's Naru Osaka, Kemonozume's Rie Kakinoki) replaced Yuko Minaguchi (Sailor Moon's Hotaru/Sailor Saturn, Kanon's Akiko Minase) in the role of Videl for the return of the Dragon Ball Z Kai anime. While in the United States, Minaguchi did appear at the Animazement convention in North Carolina in 2013 and at Anime Boston this past March.
