The File of Young Kindaichi Returns Manga to Go on 5-Issue Hiatus

posted on by Tiara Hamilton
Detective series to return in November

This year's 45th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine announced that Yōzaburō Kanari and Seimaru Amagi's Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo R (The File of Young Kindaichi Returns) manga will go on hiatus in the following issue. The series will resume with a new arc in the magazine's 51st issue on November 19. The creators will be conducting research during the hiatus.

The manga launched as a continuation of the original Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo (Kindaichi Case Files) manga in 2013. Kodansha published the third compiled book volume of Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo R in September.

The File of Young Kindaichi Returns anime series ended with the final episode airing on September 27 on NTV. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

The original Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo manga inspired a television anime in 1997 as well as several movies and television specials. The manga also led to several live-action adaptations, including this year's special set in Malaysia with Ryōsuke Yamada of the boy band Hey! Say! JUMP. KinKi Kids group member Tsuyoshi Dōmoto, Arashi member Jun Matsumoto, and KAT-TUN member Kazuya Kamenashi also played the title role.

The original manga inspired a new web anime from FROGMAN (Eagle Talon, Thermae Romae) in January. Tokyopop published the manga's original first 18 volumes in North America.
