Working!!/Wagnaria!! Manga to Get Spinoff in January
posted on by Kyle Cardine
This year's 22nd issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine is announcing on Friday that Karino Takatsu's Working!! manga will receive a special spinoff series. The spinoff will run monthly starting in the magazine's second issue for the new year, which will ship on January 5. (Young Gangan itself is semi-monthly.) Takatsu's main manga series will end on Friday with a color page.
The magazine had previously announced that the 13th and final compiled volume of the original manga will ship on December 25, with limited edition versions being bundled with a day-by-day calendar for 2015.
The story of the original manga follows high school freshman Sōta Takanashi who works part-time at a restaurant with strange staff members. When he starts his job, he meets the small, but elder Popura, the androphobic Mahiru, the cheerful Yachiyo, the stoic chef Satō, the gossip-loving cook Sōma, and the glutenous, lazy manager Kyōko.
Takatsu began the original manga in Shonen Gangan in 2005, and it already inspired two television anime seasons. Crunchyroll streamed both series as they aired in Japan, and NISA licensed and released both in North America under the title Wagnaria!!.
A third television anime season adapting the original manga has been green-lit.
