Owarimonogatari TV Anime Series Confirmed for October

A "Monogatari Series Final Season" novel by NisiOisin

A display from the Shosen Book Tower book store in Tokyo has revealed that NisiOisin's three-volume Owarimonogatari novel will be adapted into a television anime. The display also reveals the anime's October premiere date.

Animator Hiroki Kazui previously listed last week in her work history that she worked on the Owarimonogatari anime this year. According to her listing, she did storyboards for "Monogatari Series Final Season Owarimonogatari."

In addition, Bakemonogatari series director Tatsuya Oishi left a tanzaku (small strips of paper where people write their wishes during the Tanabata festival) in Akihabara station where he wrote, "Fighting fiercely." Oishi was originally slated to direct the long-delayed Kizumongatari film. The film was originally planned for a 2012 premiere.

The three-volume Owarimonogatari novel is part of the "final season" of the Monogatari series. The first volume shipped with the stories "Ōgi Formula," "Sodachi Riddle," and "Sodachi Lost" in October 2013. The second volume shipped in January 2014 with the story "Shinobu Mail." The third volume shipped in April 2014.

The novel series' "final season" ended with Zoku Owarimonogatari last September, but it features a teaser for "Monogatari Series, Next Season Tsugimonogatari." Vertical will publish the earlier Kizumonogatari novel in November. Aniplex of America will release a subtitled Blu-ray of Tsukimonogatari, the first story in the final season of the Monogatari series, on September 15.
