Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming the first promotional video and the first TV ad on Friday for Haikyu!! Cross team match!, the second Nintendo 3DS game for the Haikyu!! volleyball manga.

Both videos reveal the game's March 3 release date, as well as the prices and the limited-edition bonuses. The game's standard package edition and the download edition both retail for 5,700 yen (about US$46). Players who purchase the game's first edition (of either limited or standard edition) will receive a download code for a "Haikyu Quest II" minigame.

The "Cross Team Box" limited edition of the game retails for 8,190 yen (US$66) and includes: an original tin box package, three minigames ("Haikyu Fighter" action game, "Haikyu Quest II" RPG, and "Tori no Ie" sound novel), a "Kyun Chara" rubber strap with a design from "Haikyu Quest II," three animation postcards by Production I.G, and a "Cross Team Cast Talk" DVD.

In the game, players become the protagonist in the world of Haikyu!!. The "youth experience simulation" game will follow a brand-new original story with newly created illustrations by the anime studio Production I.G.

Players can select characters as teammates, and add more teammates while exploring the local area and talking with other characters. Additionally, players can choose teammates who are not Karasuno athletes.

The first 3DS game, Haikyu!! Tsunage! Itadaki no Keshiki!! (Haikyu!! Connect! View From the Top!!), shipped in Japan in September 2014.

The first season of the anime adaptation of Haruichi Furudate's volleyball manga premiered in April 2014. Sentai Filmworks has licensed and released the series on home video in North America, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. Haikyu!! Second Season premiered in October, and Crunchyroll is again streaming series as it airs, and Sentai Filmworks has licensed the sequel series for home video.
