Power Rangers Wild Force Actor Ricardo Medina Jr. Charged With Murder

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Medina fatally stabbed roommate in physical altercation last January

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office announced on Thursday that Power Rangers Wild Force actor Ricardo Medina Jr. has been arrested and charged with the murder of his roommate. The incident originally occurred in the afternoon on January 31, 2015.

Medina allegedly killed his 36-year-old roommate Joshua Sutter after an argument turned physical. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department stated at the time that Sutter had forced his way into Medina's bedroom, where Medina and his girlfriend were, during the altercation in January 2015. Medina then allegedly stabbed Sutter once in the abdomen with a sword he kept next to the door. Medina called 911 at about 3:50 p.m., and the detectives then interviewed him at their Palmdale Station.

Although Medina he was arrested at the time, Medina claimed the incident was self-defense, and Los Angeles County prosecutors did not charge him with the crime. Los Angeles County district attorney spokesperson Ricardo Santiago said in February 2015 that prosecutors had the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for "further investigation" before they decided whether to charge Medina for the incident.

Medina's arraignment is set for Tuesday, January 19 at the Antelope Valley Branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Prosecutors will ask to set bail at US$1 million, and he faces 26 years to life in prison, if convicted.

Medina played Cole Evans or Red Lion Wild Force Ranger in Power Rangers Wild Force, and he also played Deker in Power Rangers Samurai.
