Street Fighter V to Add Guile in April Update

Guile's Air Force Base also announced as 1st DLC stage

CAPCOM announced on the US PlayStation blog on Monday that Guile will join Street Fighter V as a DLC in an April update. The playable character will be free for all players until the Zenny shop launches.

The update will also include Guile's Air Force Base as the game's first DLC stage. The stage will be available in the shop, but will be free for 2016 Season Pass holders.

In addition, CAPCOM revealed that its update will improve matchmaking for online play and add a "rage quit system" to punish players who frequently disconnect in online battles. CAPCOM has not yet revealed a release date for the April update.

Street Fighter V is the latest entry in the Street Fighter fighting game franchise. The game shipped on February 16 in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4 and PC (via Steam).

The game launched with a core of 16 playable characters — four of whom are brand new to the franchise: Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Nash, M. Bison, Cammy, Birdie, Vega, Karin Kanzuki, Necalli, Rainbow Mika, Zangief, Laura, Rashid, Dhalsim, and F.A.N.G.

Sony revealed at the PlayStation Experience event on December 6 that the six additional characters that would be released post-launch in 2016 include: Alex, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Juri, and Urien. CAPCOM released Alex as a DLC in March.

Players can earn the characters through gameplay for free, but players can also purchase the 2016 Season Pass to get the new characters as soon as they are released.

CAPCOM revealed that it will release a free expansion with the game series' first "cinematic story experience" in June 2016. The expansion's story will focus mainly on M. Bison and Shadaloo, and will take place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III.
