Capcom Hints at Akuma for Street Fighter V Game

Character playable at PlayStation Experience event in California on December 3-4

CAPCOM hinted during a livestream on its CAPCOM Fighters Twitch channel on Sunday that it will add the character Akuma to its Street Fighter V fighting game.

The clip notes that the character will be playable in the game at the PlayStation Experience event in Anaheim, California on December 3 and 4.

CAPCOM screened the video during the CAPCOM Pro Tour North America Finals event in Seattle on Sunday.

While the attack Akuma performs in the clip is similar to the "Wrath of the Raging Demon" attack that debuted in Street Fighter IV, the kanji that appears on his back at the end of the attack is "shinjin" (godlike person), instead of the usual "ten" (heaven). This was last seen in CAPCOM's CAPCOM vs. SNK 2 fighting game, in his Shin Akuma incarnation.

Akuma first appeared in the Super Street Fighter II Turbo game in 1994.

CAPCOM previously released Alex, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Juri, and Urien as post-release downloadable characters.

CAPCOM released the game's free "A Shadow Falls" story expansion DLC on July 1.

Street Fighter V is the latest entry in the Street Fighter fighting game franchise. The game contains new features, such as V-Reversal moves, and a special V-Trigger mode. The game shipped on February 16 in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4 and PC (via Steam).

The game launched with a core of 16 playable characters, including: Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Nash, M. Bison, Cammy, Birdie, Vega, Karin Kanzuki, Necalli, Rainbow Mika, Zangief, Laura, Rashid, Dhalsim, and F.A.N.G.

Update: Corrected game in which Akuma made his debut in the franchise. Thanks, DoctorScorpio.
