New season to introduce new bellflower Fairilu

TV Tokyo's official website for the Rilu Rilu Fairilu ~Yōsei no Door~ television anime series revealed on Thursday that the series is getting a second season that will premiere on April 7. The anime will switch timeslots from the first season, and will instead air on Fridays at 5:55 p.m.

The new season will introduce a new bellflower Fairilu, who hatches from a Fairilu Seed that Nozomi's little sister Karen has by chance.

The anime is currently airing on Saturdays at 10 a.m. on TV Tokyo. The first season's final episode will air on March 27.

The anime series is part of Sanrio and Sega Toys' Rilu Rilu Fairilu collaborative multimedia character project. The project also includes merchandise, books, a game, and events.

The first anime season premiered in Japan on February 6. Sakura Gojō is directing the anime at Studio DEEN (Jewelpet: Magical Change). Aya Matsui (Dragon Ball GT, Marmalade Boy, Tamagotchi!) is handling the series composition, and Jinshichi Yamaguchi is designing the characters.

In the franchise's story, "Fairilu" are fairies of flowers, insects, mermaids, or other entities that are born from "Farilu Seeds." All Fairilu are born with their own key, and they must search to find and open the door that fits only their key. Once the Fairilu pass through the doors, they mature. The doors are also related to the human world.

The project is the second multimedia character collaborative project for the two companies after they launched the Jewelpet franchise in 2008. Rilu Rilu Fairilu is similarly geared toward elementary school-age girls.
