anohana's Mari Okada pens anime starring new 'High School Children' group

The official Twitter account of the Kimi Mote Lodge audition show announced the cast members for AKB48 producer Yasushi Akimoto and NTV's original anime project Kimi dake ni Motetainda (I Want to be Popular Just to You) last Friday. The new voice actors are Hiroshi Ishibashi, Keito Takahashi, Rui Tabuchi, Rikiya Tomizono, and Tomoya Fukui. The group will form the "High School Children" group.

The Kimi dake ni Motetainda project held the auditions this previous summer. The High School Children group will make their voice acting debut in the anime.

Mari Okada (Maquia, Anohana, The Anthem of the Heart) is penning the script for the anime, and Yamako (HoneyWorks) is the character designer.

Akimoto founded the AKB48 idol group in 2005, and its sixth and latest domestic sister group, STU48, launched in summer 2017. Akimoto also founded AKB48's "official rival group" Nogizaka46, as well as its spinoff group Keyakizaka46.

Akimoto founded the 22/7 "dimension crossing" idol group. The group has released three singles (the most recent shipped on August 22), all with CG music videos. That project also has a planned anime, and its character videos began streaming in English in May.

Most recently, Akimoto announced a partnership with Warner Music Japan to produce a new "idol girls band."
