Voice Actor Nobuo Tanaka Passes Away

The Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society reported on Saturday that voice actor Nobuo Tanaka has passed away. He was 83.
Voice actress Fumi Hirano reported on Twitter on Saturday that Tanaka passed away on October 17.
Tanaka had roles in such anime as Gatchaman (Sosai X), JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OAV (Dio), Anime Sanjūshi (Cardinal Richelieu), Hyouge Mono (Soueki Sen), Karate Master (Ken Asuka), The Adventures of the Little Prince (Frank), Detonator Orgun (I-Zack), Monster (Petr Capek), One Piece (Captain Jonathan), and Lupin III: Part II (Sherlock Holmes III). He also narrated such anime as The Ideon: A Contact, The Ideon: Be Invoked, Densetsu Kyojin Ideon, Otaku no Seiza, Lupin III: Secret Files, and Cromartie High School.
He also voiced the Japanese dub for the character Sgt. Saunders in the live-action American Combat! television series, and dubbed Barney Collier in the Mission: Impossible television series. He narrated TV Tokyo's TV Champion program as well as news programs and various tokusatsu hero programs.
Tanaka received a Merit Award at the 4th Annual Seiyū Awards in 2010.
