posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The official website for the television anime adaptation of Masakuni Igarashi's Senryū Shōjo (Senryū Girl) manga revealed four new cast members and a new visual for the series on Thursday.
Sayuri Yahagi as Amane Katagiri
Rikako Aida as Koto Ōtsuki
Misaki Kuno as Kino Yakobe
Sumire Uesaka as Tao Hanakai
Previously revealed cast includes:
Kana Hanazawa as Nanako Yukishiro
Tasuku Hatanaka as Eiji Busujima
The anime will premiere in April, and will air on MBS, TBS, and BS-TBS' "Animeism" programming block.
Masato Jinbo (Shomin Sample, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3rei!!, Restaurant to Another World) is directing the anime at CONNECT, and is also credited for supervising the series scripts. Maki Hashimoto (animation director on Restaurant to Another World, BONJOUR Sweet Love Patisserie, Yona of the Dawn) is designing the characters.
The manga centers on Nanako Yukishiro and Eiji Busujima. Nanako is a girl who can only communicate what she wants to say by using senryū (a poetry style similar to haiku more focused on humor). Eiji is an intimidating but kind boy who is a member of the school literature club. The manga tells the story of the pair's cheerful everyday interactions through 17 syllables.
Igarashi launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in October 2016. Kodansha published the manga's seventh compiled volume on December 17. The series has more than 500,000 copies in print. The manga ranked at #16 in the printed manga category of last year's Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in August.
