Duel Masters! Anime Gets New Series in April

New series to again feature Joe as protagonist

The official YouTube channel for Shogakukan's Coro Coro Comics magazine revealed on Saturday that the Duel Masters! anime franchise is getting a new series titled Duel Masters!! (with two exclamation points) that will premiere in April. The site is also streaming a video for the new anime, but the video is region-locked and can only be viewed in Japan. The new anime will enter the "Chōten" arc, and will again feature Joe as the protagonist.

The current Duel Masters! series premiered on TV Tokyo and its affiliates on April 1, and airs on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. The anime is ongoing.

Shinobu Sasaki (Duel Masters VS, 2017's Duel Masters!) is directing the series at Ascension, and Yoichi Kato (Aikatsu!, Duel Masters VS, 2017's Duel Masters!) is overseeing the series scripts. Yosuke Yabumoto (Duel Masters VS, 2017's Duel Masters!) is designing the characters, and Jun'ichi Igarashi (Duel Masters VS, Duel Masters Versus Revolution Final) is composing the music.

The anime is a continuation of the anime that premiered in April 2017. The new protagonist is Joe Kirifuda, the son of the previous protagonist Katta Kirifuda. In the show's story, the balance of the Creature World is starting to crumble. A talking deck case named Decky comes to the human world to search for a Duel Master to preserve equilibrium. There he sees Joe's power to create creatures.
