Maid-sama!'s Hiro Fujiwara Draws 1-Shot Manga in February

Mato Kauta also launches new Hatoko-san wa Tokidoki Mahō Shōjo manga in February

The March issue of Hakusensha's LaLa magazine revealed on Thursday that Hiro Fujiwara (Maid-sama!) will draw a new one-shot manga titled "Mune Kyun Jōtō" (Heart-Pounding Excellence) in the magazine's next issue on February 23. The one-shot will have a color opening page and will have 41 pages. The manga will center on a former delinquent starting a completely unfitting job.

Mato Kauta (Ōkami-Heika no Hanayome) will also launch a new manga titled Hatoko-san wa Tokidoki Mahō Shōjo (Hatoko is Sometimes a Magical Girl). The manga will have a color opening page and will feature on the magazine's front cover. The first chapter will have 52 pages. The magazine describes the story as centering on a normal office worker woman who transforms into the magical girl Ruby in response to the declining birth rate in Japan.

The magazine also revealed that Eko Kashiya will also draw a new one-shot manga titled "Nana Hoshi Toriko Maker" in the next issue.

Fujiwara launched the Maid-sama! manga in LaLa in 2006, and ended it in 2013. Hakusensha published 18 compiled book volumes for the manga, along with a new volume last August. Tokyopop published eight volumes of the manga before the company shut down its North American publishing division in 2011. Viz Media's omnibus releases began in 2015, and compiles two volumes in each release. The ninth and final omnibus volume shipped in August 2017.

Maid-sama! inspired a 26-episode television anime series from J.C. Staff in 2010, and Sentai Filmworks released the series on DVD in North America.
