Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama Will Have London Screening on July 29

The Japanese-Indian film will be screened at London's Prince Charles Cinema

London's Prince Charles Cinema will screen the Japanese-Indian animated film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama (Ramayana - Rama Ouji Densetsu) in its 4K remaster on Saturday July 29 (12 noon) and again on Saturday November 11 (12 noon). The English-dubbed version of the film will be shown.

The Prince Charles cinema website describes the film:

"The Japanese producer Yugo Sako envisioned his 1992 animated adaptation of the Indian / S.E Asian myth of “The Ramayana” to be a bridge between cultures and as such it is an unusual fusion of Japanese animation expertise and aesthetics and Indian artistic sensibilities to tell a story that is both a centuries old religious text and an archetypal epic adventure story with many twists and turns all rolled into one often freewheeling adaptation."

The anime film premiered in 1992, the 40th anniversary year of India-Japan diplomatic relations. Cartoon Network aired the film on Indian television in subsequent years.

Yugo Sako directed and co-produced the film at Nippon Ramayana Film Co. Atsushi Matsuo was the executive producer. Vanraj Bhatia composed the music. Moriyasu Taniguchi designed the characters for the film. Satoshi Matsuoka was the art director and Kazuyuki Kobayashi was the animation director.
