Ani-One Asia announced on Saturday that it will stream The Great Sage Ryddel and the Hands of Time, the "light anime" adaptation of author Necoco and artist Hajime Nitaka's Daikenja Riddle no Jikan Gyakkо̄ manga, in April.

Ani-One Asia describes the anime:

Reclaim everything you lost—in your second run through the world. The mysterious group “Box of Malice” has taken everything from the young man Ryddel—his companions, his world, his future. Standing at the edge of despair, he grasps one final idea: What if I could return to the time before everything was destroyed? Having survived a thousand years and transformed into an inhuman being, Ryddel finally succeeds in reversing time. “This time… I will stop it all!” Carrying a millennium of knowledge and experience back into his youthful body, the great sage Ryddel begins his journey of time reversal!

The anime will premiere in Japan on April 1.

The series stars Junya Enoki as Ryddel and Azusa Tadokoro as Norn.

Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) spearheaded the concept of "light anime" to create animation at a lower cost on a more "timely" schedule compared to the traditional animation production workflow. The technology converts manga manuscripts directly into animated video without traditional drawing.

Necoco and Nitaka debuted the full-color manga on Seed Comics in November 2023. Shogakukan published the first compiled book volume in May 2024 and the fifth volume in November 2025.
