Akibanana.com Relaunches Into Your Heart!
G.I. Jane, Inc is proud to announce that Akibanana.com has graduated from its beta days. The new Version 1.0 is the first overhaul of the site since its initial launch on 14 February 2008. Based in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, Akibanana provides media coverage for Akihabara-style geek culture, including anime, manga, games, toys, maids and other things Akihabara. Staff bloggers, an extensive directory of Akihabara businesses, and a comprehensive encyclopedia of geek related terms are some of the site's other features. Version 1.0 features a more user-friendly navigation bar, RSS feed, and re-installation of the "Nana-Channel" bulletin board system. In-depth articles focusing on current and historical events related to Akihabara, reviews of Akihabara businesses, and news articles covering up-and-coming events will remain staples of the site. Currently, the staff is developing a comprehensive, printable English map of Akihabara for the site, the first of its kind.

Akibanana's parent organization GI Jane (www.gijane.jp) is an Internet media company founded in July 2007 with the mission of spreading Akihabara's otaku subculture to the rest of the world. Their head office is located in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, just a stone's throw from the infamous "Electric Town" in Akihabara, heart of geeky otaku culture. CEO Jane Fong has hinted that the launch of version 1.0 just the first step in more enhancements to come for Akibanana.com in the near future.
