Nijicon Returns for Its Second Year as the First LGBTQ Comic Book Convention to be Held in the Philadelphia Area

OAKS, PA – October 1, 2015

Nijicon(meaning "rainbow convention" in Japanese) is a weekend-long event taking place October 24-25, 2015 that is designed to highlight the increasing and driving presence of the LGBTQ community in comics, books, movies and television. Like our name, many of the works at our event are influenced by Japanese comics(manga) and animation(anime), specifically yaoi, bara/gei comic, and yuri. The event will be located at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA(just outside Philadelphia) and will feature special guests, fan-hosted panels, vendors, artists, and screenings of popular LGBT movies, television shows, and anime(Japanese animation). Nijicon is also proudly hosting a charity raffle in which all proceeds will be donated to The Attic Youth Center(an LGBT Youth Center in Philadelphia, PA).

All attendees will also be getting a free novel, The Merman: Transformation, courtesy of RaytheReign.com along with other gifts just for attending this convention. *Our VIP members will also receive the next volume in The Merman series, Acceptance.

Nijicon was created in the belief that no matter what an individual's race, religion, gender or sexual identity may be, all geeks should have the opportunity to display their love of comics and entertainment media in a safe environment. While we drive to highlight LGBTQ portrayals in creative media, one of the many goals of Nijicon is to also provide a space where all fans are free to explore new genres of comics and media that they may not otherwise explore on their own. We welcome everyone!
