I don't think it'll ever happen but it's possible. Ragnarok was the first korean manga to be turned into an anime by Japan. It could happen with Megatokyo or other Anime-influenced comics.

Well with all the money Fred makes off the ads and what not it could very well happen.

It's not anime, and neither is Megatokyo manga. Fred is not Japanese.

I'm positive that should he wish to he could get financing, all he needs is about half a mill for an hour OVA

Since when do you need to be Japanese to make anime/manga? Anime/manga is an art style.

This is not a "Can Americans draw anime?" thread. THat already exists.

Is it possible for the Japanese to make a Megatokyo anime? They made a Ragnarok anime.

Possible? Yea, sure anything's possible. Will it happen? I don't see it happening, but who knows what the future will bring.

It would make about as much sense as the Japanese making a Japanese version of Lost in Translation... even if it's set in Japan, it's really only relevant to westerners.

The most commonly-accepted definition of "anime" is anything created primarily by a Japanese production studio with a mostly Japanese creative front (director, producer, writer, etc.), often geared towards a solely (or mainly) Japanese audience. It doesn't mean that foreigners can't be involved in anime or that the anime itself can't cater in part to a foreign market (Animatrix, Big O), but the main player is the Japanese influence.

Unless Megatokyo were picked up by Madhouse or somebody and the humour re-written to cater as much to Japanese audiences as Western ones, it would simply be anime-inspired, like the comic.

Who said I was "destroying hopes?" I'm just telling it straight. Not saying an animated Megatokyo can't be good, I'm just saying its chances of being an actual anime are rather slim. There's good stuff out there that's anime-inspired without actually being anime, just look at Teen Titans or Megas XLR or Thundercats.

Absolutely. Do we forget the massive influx of psuedo-anime that was strewn all throughout the 80's? It is possible, but considering that it probably would require Fred to completely halt the comic while working on the show, I would have to say it would be highly improbable.

A real good debate topic would be whether or not the guys would voice their own characters.

Nobuhrio Watsuki still continued with RK during the production of the anime and CD book.

He also had virtually zero input in the project.
