Wow. Such a star studded project. Really, if nothing else, I'm just glad to see Okiura directing again (or working on anything anime for that matter). I maintain that Jin-Roh is one of the top anime movies of all times and I'm at a loss for why after directing it, it's taken a dozen years for him to be given another project to head up. (Again, that's to say nothing of his complete drop off the map altogether since 06).

EDIT: Huh. I see ANN has added further detail. So that's what he's been up to. That certainly explains a lot.

Jin-Roh, Mononoke, Akira, and Eva tallent? I predict this film will be incredibly depressing, kind of weird, and possibly incomprehensible. Anime smallmouth

Wow. Going to be a long wait yet, but judging by the staff involved this has a lot of potential.

Oh $#@!. Shocked Shocked Shocked Awesome realistic sakuga on the way. Anime cry Anime cry Tetsuya Nishio, Hiroyuki Aoyama, Ei Inoue, and Kazuchika Kise are working on it too.

Looks like Hiroshi Ohno is the Art Director. http://www.productionig.com/contents/news/2011/02/hiroyuki_okiura.html

EDIT: Bah. I see the follow-up article now.

Excellent..more animated films of this caliber need to be made..I'm quite weary of the animation market here in America..its nothing but CGI.

yeah but at least we have Pixar, which makes up for lack of other talent, except for Cars and Cars 2

Kadokawa Pictures describes the Sora no Otoshimono film as "a date movie for 'ria-jū.'" "Ria-jū" is a recent slang term for people who enjoy real life, as opposed to otaku.

One has to question whether this is the most appropriate target audience. It can be presumed that the majority of Sora no Otoshimono fans fall outside the "ria-jū" classification.

Agreed. It's an, uh... unexpected marketing angle to take to this venture.

Perhaps if we understand ria-jū in the limited frame of how it refers to the common movie-goer, we can make some sense of this. SnO is a romantic comedy to a degree... and if there's one thing ria-jū like in their romcoms, it's a definitive conclusion.

My conclusion is that by the end of the movie, Tomoki will actually get together with Ikaros. Laughing

I'm definitely looking forward to this. We need more films like this coming out of Japan, especially with the industry in it's current state.
