Due to a very pitiful performance, Kenshin will be replacing Gundam SEED on Toonami beginning in October. SEED will be moving to Friday nights at 1:00 AM replacing .hack//DUSK and will continue airing new episodes.

So you'd rather have Rurouni Cut-up, where some scenes are so horribly mangled they're impossible to follow? This doesn't surprise me, really. Cartoon Network's failed to properly handle a Gundam title since Mobile Suit Gundam, and SEED was bound to fail when they started heavily advertising everything on Toonami except for the 10:30 spot (they ran one occasional ad for about two weeks after the show debuted and that was it). What's funny is that with all the "poor ratings" SEED's getting on Toonami, it's one of Bandai's biggest-selling titles according to what Jerry Chu said at AWA's Bandai panel. Seems to lend more to the "CN just lets Gundam bomb" theory. Maybe with the 1:00 spot they won't have a need to paint up the ray guns. But then they've probably already edited the entire series ahead of time a la 0083, so...meh. |

Great, now we're gonna get boatloads of people asking us about the "lazer guns" (a.k.a. "price scanners"). Oh, and, uh, they didn't paint up the ray guns. There were no ray guns to begin with; they were just regular guns. By painting them with neon lights, they became ray guns. Duh. |

This is the best thing to happen to a Gundam series on Cartoon Network. Sure, it probably wont get the same exposure (though it IS Friday night, most people will be up later), but if they show it like they've shown other shows in that spot it'll be complete with Japanese openers and closers and mostly (if not entirely) uncut/unedited.

Emory said that they'll be showing new episodes. Since Toonami didn't show the second "season" and originally CN only bought the first "season" for Toonami, and we know that CN is against "unediting" it would make sense that these new shows will be shown in the same fashion as 009 and .hack have been in that time block. This may actually be better than if they were to show it on Adult Swim since that mini block on Friday nights doesn't have long bumpers that cause time constraints. Emerje |

They're probably still edited. .hack and Cyborg season 2 were never bothered to edit because their successors performed so poorly that they were destined to be sent to a place where they'd never be seen. Gundam SEED's whole series was intended to air on Toonami because they bought all 50-whatever episodes at once, so they must've edited all the episodes. It's being moved to 1 AM because the ratings are terrible, yet they have to air all the episodes. |

Ok, I was going by info that was posted at Gunota stating that CN only bought the first 26 episodes, but they've since corrected themselves to say that the entire series was bought. Well, that certainly does put a damper on my theory. Still, it's nice to know that Cartoon Network hasn't entirely given up on the series.

I kind of already know that; I've seen the series fansubbed multiple times. I'm sorry you misread my post, but please don't insult my intelligence over it. Anyway, I'm still kinda iffy on the situation. Cartoon Network never actually dropped a Gundam series with the exception of Mobile Suit Gundam, they just put them all into some scheduling equivalent of Purgatory & pulled any semblance of advertising until they shook all the fans off, then took them off the air completely. This 1:00 thing...seems about par for the course. And like I said earlier, the fact that this series's just going to be pre-edited all the way through doesn't make the situation any better. |

I think this statement holds no logic. The only thing this will effect is Gundam on Cartoon Network. Bandai Japan could probably give less of a crap, and I doubt Bandai US won't release every Gundam in existence on DVD, except maybe for the original SD. Could really care less about this one. Didn't like SEED anyways, and I'm not one of those guys who likes jumping on hype machines about whats popular on CN. |

I'm not sure why people thought Gundam SEED was going to be such a colossal success on CN anyway.
The show is pretty looking and has nice animation, but the plot - which is, believe it or not, pretty slow and complicated - requires that you slavishly watch every single episode that airs. If you miss a week, you're going to be completely lost. This sort of thing, combined with the fact that most kids watching Toonami are going to be turned off by the sheer complexity and slow pacing of Gundam SEED, seemed to me to be very blatant proof that this show wouldn't be a success on Toonami. All the advertising in the world isn't going to make kids care about a show that is concerned more with complicated space politics than fighting robots. |
