Can anyone suggest any good anime based on romance and comedy, ex Love Hina. Or any anime with a guy living with a lot of women, ex Tenchi, Hand Maid May, and Love Hina.

You might want to try Chobits, by Clamp. It's got the comedy and romance, and a guy living with a persocom... I dunno. If you like any of Clamp's works, then you'll like this one. The art for this one is like it is for CardCaptor Sakura and not like it is for Magic Knight Rayearth. Check it out.

Nadesico has got alot of that Romance type stuff going on in there. Its a Mech/Space Drama with some Tenchi-like stuff going on. One of my favorites,

Kare Kano/His and her Circumstances came right to mind. Also the Rouroni Kenshin TV series has quite a few romance/comedy elements to it. On, and can't forget M Sorcerer Hunters and Magic Users Club.

In Manga's there is:
Kodocha What is Kodocha? It's the smash-hit comedy series from Japan about what happens when child star Sana Kurata tries to "fix" the problems of everyone around her. And there are a LOT of problems to solve. Her classroom's been overrun by bullies, her teacher's being blackmailed, and the girls all live in terror, all because of the tyrannical rule of the demon child, Akito Hayama. Wish (Now Wish is not in anyway like Tenchi Muyo but it dose mix Comedy and Romance together) "What would you wish for if you already had everything you've ever wanted?" That's the question that Shuichiro faces in the latest series from CLAMP, creators of Cardcaptor Sakura, CLOVER, and Chobits. One moonlit night Shuichiro saved an angel stuck in a tree. On the other side she meets Inuyasha, the dog-like demon who claims she smells just like the woman who fifty years ago pinned him with her arrow to a tree, where he's been all this time. Unwilling allies at first, the two become closer as their search for the sacred "Jewel of Four Souls" continues. Heck, just about all of Rumiko series execpt Mermaid Forest/Scar. That includes Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku

Fruits Basket (not so much romance, as friendship, but it's good. It's much more toned down than LH, though). But, if you liked stuff like HMM and LH, maybe you'd get a kick out of Mahoromatic.

I don't know alot about this genre, but I've seen the Tenchi's and most of Saber Marionette J, and up to date with CN Inuyasha. What I want to know is do they ever have a happy ending? Like the end of Tenchi in Tokyo where {SPOILER!} Sakura ends up being Yugi's creation thing, That was pretty sad. Do they allways end like that, or the relationships just never really go anywhere like Crest of the Stars?

Well, some do, some don't. That's the most accurate answer, Bruce.
Some actually end very happily. Ah! Megami-sama, or Oh! My Goddess as it's known in the states, has a very happy ending. Same can be said for Love Hina. Happy endings aren't as common as people would hope, but they are out there. By the same token, there are a lot of romances that are far more tragic then Shin Tenchi. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust comes immediately to mind. As does Maison Ikkoku. (I haven't seen all of the series, so I may be wrong about its level of sadness further on down the line) It's easy to explain why they're so common. Dysfunction makes things easy. When the two main components of a romantic couple absolutely hate each other, you can spend tons of time getting them together, getting them to try and keep hating each other, etc. When a couple gets along easily, without any lack of commitment or doubt, then it's hard to come up with conflict for a story. Ah! Megami-sama did this very well. Not many others have. Hope that gave you some insight. |

Hmm... I'm suprised no one mentioned Ai Yori Aoshi yet. Perhaps the most basic explanation would be that it is a slightly more mature Love Hina - more touching moments and less slapstick comedy. Pioneer just started to release it in the US. Other titles you might want to try are I, My, Me! Strawberry Eggs and Please! Teacher aka Onegai Teacher (not available in the US yet, but it is scheduled for release on May 6th from Bandai.
Bruce Lee... from Seattle... heh. Any way... I suppose you didn't think that Saber Marionette J had a happy ending becuase you didn't see all the episodes. It does have a happy ending. So do a lot of other anime, you just haven't seen that much.
Actually, in the case of Crest of the Stars, the relationship DOES go somewhere, it just takes a while to get there; however, you have to wait until Banner of the Stars II comes out to see though. Currently, only Crest of the Stars and Banner of the Stars are available in the US (I love the entire series - about time they started to release Banner of the Stars). The unresolved relationship thing is pretty common in anime though... |

Maison Ikkoku doesn't have a sad ending. The entire series was forced down my throat at my anime club, as was the movie and the OVA series. It's happy, really. Same with the manga. Since it takes them some 96 episodes to finally GET to that happy ending, it seems like it might end badly, but don't worry. Kyoko and Godai eventually stop angsting.
