Anyone know of any shops that sell anime merchandise, or even just issues of Newtype and such in the Washington DC area?

I'll be going there on our senior trip in the spring, and it seems only logical that I should try to take advantage of the trip for my own interests.
Very Happy

Thanks in advance.

It's been a little while since I lived there, but...have you tried Another Universe? They're in Springfield Mall, Fair Oaks (in VA), and a couple others.

I can't try anything until I make the trip in the spring.

Thanks for the suggestion, though. I'll look into it. ^^;

Anime Pavilion
7395-B Lee Highway
Falls Church, VA
www.animepavillion.com

One of the *big* North American anime stores. You see them at pretty much every con in the States and Canada

Anime FX
Springfield Mall
Springfield, VA

Starland Anime
7491 Greenbelt Road
Greenbelt, MD

---

Also, most Borders and B&N stores in the area stock a pretty good number of graphic novels. The magazine racks at Tower Records (2000 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington DC) usually have at least a couple of issues of Newtype USA, Animerica, Shonen Jump and Raijin, and occasionally, Japanese Newtype and Animage, although those tend to be a few months old.

Is Anime FX new? I can't believe I wouldn't have noticed it (of course, navigating Springfield Mall can be a little confusing sometimes...) Oh well =)

cdjapan
amazon.co.jp

amazon.co.jp is japanese-only. both links are for the region 2 (JP) DVD, and cost 9800 yen (~$80)

Hope this helps.

Well, they opened up a couple of years ago, but then again, I also haven't been out to Springfield in a while, so it's conceivable that they've closed since then.

That, and there's always P^3, but I'm still sticking to avoiding having to remember that place exists.

For the benefit of those of us not immediately in the DC area... Why?

They bootleg something MASSIVE. Including sales of bootlegs of licensed series and bootlegs of titles fansubbed by friends of mine, who have specifically requested that their titles be removed from sale.

Back when I was just getting into the scene, I made the pilgrimage out to the place almost weekly. Let's just say I'm rather more aware of various issues in fandom now.
