Yeah, the girls so far are just boring. Even more if you're watching Steins;Gate as well. One is the lonely cub, another is the snob. I do generally dislike snobs, even more if their eyebrow looks like that, so I already knew that I wouldn't like this girl. If the anime doesn't get popular enough I'm totally blaming this episode and the one that introduced plant girl.

While this is true, it's not very atypical behavior. Right now we're in that initial calm found in many Shounen anime where, after the primary plot has been established (rather explosively, in Blue Exorcist, in my opinion), we're now doing a meet and greet with the main characters as we enter the brief 'slice of life/mini-arc' segment before the first big arc rolls around. Frankly, the calm is only making me all the more excited for it (assuming I'm right). |

@ZeroSkyVII Looks like you're right, the last few minutes of the episode were setting up something big.
As for the episode itself, I liked it. The fact that Rin is getting along with the other boys in his class is a nice turn on the trope the the shonen hero has to prove himself to almost everyone before he can start making friends (besides for the friends he's had since before the show started). Rin is friendly and likable, and that's a good thing. The conflict between the girls was portrayed realistically, and I could understand the POV of all three of them. I grew up going to all girl's schools, they were always girls who used other girls, girls who allowed themselves to be used in order to feel like they had friends and girls in the middle. Kudos to Weird-brow's friend (their names are all escaping me right now), for calling out Weird-brows on her treatment of Shiemi, and kudos to the show for not making their conflist revolve around boys.

After watching episode 8 just now, I came here to post on just that. I really, REALLY like how Rin isn't turning into the typical shounen hero that's all "WHAT? YOU GOT A PROBLEM? FIGHT ME!" In episode 8 and in earlier ones, I think it's awesome how he actually praises and appreciates the knowledge of people like Suguru instead of being all, "Tch, show-off..." and getting poopy about it. And when Suguru gets all rampaging and angry, Rin's actually portrayed as kind of comically helpless, scurrying around like "ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!" whereas the typical shounen hero would just get right back in his face and be all ROAR. Queue lightning between the eyes. It's almost like he's a real person who found his way into an anime and is dealing with all the crazy antics realistically.

luv the ep. but i dnt see y so many people would decide to be an ARIA who the hell wants too chat when u can play with guns and swords? also i usually dont like animes songs but lu this anime season's!!!! (blue and tiger bunny mostly )

Have we ever been introduced to the classmate who hides under a hood the whole time? Anybody else noticed this person never speaks and disappears in all the big fight scenes? There has got to be something with that coming soon. They were sitting next to everyone else with a stone on their lap and the lights went off, then boom they're gone.

Just watched episode 8. Despite it being about he character, I still don't like the purple-haired-weird-eyebrow-wolf chick. I was sitting there thinking "Wow she got her wolves back... wait, now they're gone... BON IS AWESOME!!"

Actually, you can see he/she at various times throughout the fight scene, he/she just never does anything or says anything, and tends to blend into the background. Other things I noted about hooded person: He/she was one of those who claimed not to have received a tamptaint yet back in episode 3. He/she never showed any visible signs of being weakened by the fluid sprayed by the ghoul in episode 8, though we couldn't really see him/her much when most of the others were coughing. |

I think I'm just about done with this show. Since episode 4 all we have gotten was filler after filler with not much of the plot moving forward at all. This series had some very high hopes and then just completely did the same thing every typical shonen anime does. I would have expected a bit more by this time now.

The latest episode was so cute and sweet. Awww!
It must be cool to have a cat that you can actually talk to! 
So, Yukio is in complete denial about Shiemi's crush on him, is he? Interesting... (Rin is obviously jealous, too. That's not a bad love triangle set up, as long as Shiemi continues to grow more interesting and independent.) It's kind of sad that Fujimoto hid so much of his life from Rin while sharing with and teaching Yukio. It explains the discrepancy in each boy's level of respect for their late father, though. Hope we (and Rin) learn more about Fujimoto as the show goes on. |

Yup, this series deserves a spot on my Top Ten Favorite Anime of 2011. For some reason Rin reminds me of Ichigo from Bleach. Guess their personalities are a bit similar? Either way, Rin is definitely a refreshing character. And I love how Yukio is voiced by FukuJun! <3
Just finished episode 10. It was so cute. spoiler[I felt so bad for Kuro finding out about Shiro's death. Kuro really loved Shiro and learning that your master/best friend had died is horribly heartbreaking. I wanted to see Rin give Kuro a hug when he(?) started to cry.] I'm very much hooked on this series and can't wait for episode 11. |

It's called build up... wait for episode 12 which hopefully is based on the 9th chapter of the manga... which really should be episode 10... I don't get the logic of a filler episode near a beach without "dat" character. |

An adorable plot about a kitty cat, a cutesy good girl's crush on an oblivious (or in denial) student-teacher, a "bad boy with a heart of gold" protagonist, and a genuinely realistic and refreshing sibling relationship (they protect one another from death threats but still quibble over who should do the chores/buying groceries...) And realistic plots involving the complications of teenaged female friendships (which, refreshingly, have nothing to do with fighting over male attention).
If this show doesn't get a big dose of action, it could fall into the ranks of "shonen shows that appeal more to girls thanboys," like InuYasha. There's nothing wrong with that; I'll still watch it as long as I find it entertaining (then again, I saw every episode of the first series of InuYasha)... What do you think? Does this show have enough range in it to appeal to both genders equally? |
