As I'm sure a lot of you are aware, the Berserk films, that claim they will cover the manga over a decade, have already hit theatres in Japan.

This is all great, but there is one thing that confuses me. From what I've read and seen, the first instalment of this series has skipped volumes 1-3 of the manga. Why is this?

I for one love the introduction spoiler[before the flashback, which is the Golden Age Arc.] I hope I'm wrong in saying this but it really looks like they've skipped those volumes.

Or will put them in time line chronologically. Golden Age Arc was already so rich in action that adding so long introduction would require serious cuts in later parts or finishing halfway.

That is true. If they were to dedicate the first film to the first volumes, they wouldn't really be able to grab much attention of those new to the series.

It's a shame that people whom haven't read the manga won't go through the same experience with the films. spoiler[The first volumes leave alot of unanswered questions and have you trying to piece the puzzle together throughout the Golden Age Arc, such a great way to start a story.] Oh well, I guess beggars can't be choosers Rolling Eyes

My understanding is that they plan to release (7 or 8 can't remember) films to cover all the currently released volumes in addition to the ones that should be released over that time period. Honestly I don't think it matters if they skipped the first 3 volumes as they didn't seem all the necessary to me.
