This kinda looks interesting as I usually try to squeeze in a sports themed anime into my schedule every season.

You should watch Saki first in my opinion, as I doubt they'll be doing much recap of that. Though this is a spinoff so maybe it can be watched stand-alone.

Saki can be easily streamed via Crunchyroll here as well, so if one typically likes sports tournament anime and some moe SoL goodness thrown in, Saki is definitely worth it.

Ya, I'm thinking about watching Saki sometimes this year so this new title will most likely be on my marathon list if I find the original to be interesting.

Btw, does this anime have similar themes to Chihayafuru? It kinda looks similar (theme wise). I'm watching Chihayafuru on CR right now and it seems alright.

Based on what I've read of the manga, you should be able to follow the Achiga-hen storyline without previous knowledge of Saki. Mostly you'll just miss out on the significance of some characters appearing. Otherwise the story runs mostly parallel to the original series. (It's not like there's a lot of story involved anyways. :p)

It's a fun show though, so you should check it out if you're interested. Smile It's pretty different in tone from Chihayafuru though, in that Chihayafuru takes itself seriously, and Saki is over the top.

K, thanks Smile

I'll probably marathon this sometimes during summer or when it finishes airing.
