I don't know how long most of you have known about Netflix, but I've been a customer of theirs on-and-off for many years now. Way back in the beginning (when they only had a single warehouse out in CA) they originally offered soft-core conventional pornography like Playboy and Penthouse DVD's nationwide. Apparently they got rid of all that stuff, probably because some parts of the United States have become so anti-pornography that it's actually become pseudo-illegal to sell or rent pornography there.
Most online DVD sellers and renters simply prevent you from sending rentals and purchases to whole blocks of zip-codes that include the ever-growing list of religious fundamentalist evangelical enclaves that might attempt to entrap them. And, since Netflix always knows where you live, it's possible that if you live along the west coast (or other 'blue states') you can still select and rent porn from Netflix. However, here in JesusLand (Texas and the rest of the backward South) Netflix keeps their chin pretty clean. In the world of anime, this has generally meant that Netflix doesn't carry any overt hentai (ecchi/ero). Even though anime is typically listed as NR (Not Rated) on Netflix since the ratings that do exist aren't actually sanctioned by the MPAA, most anime with obviously risqué themes has been left off their list in the past. It's true that you can find some soft-core hentai on Netflix if you search for the specific title, but these titles are few and far between, are generally not linkable by any of the cast or the director, and never show up in any browser list (including when you browse the "Animation for Adults" section). So, you can imagine my surprise when I came across Chôjin densetsu Urotsukidôji on the front page of the general Anime and Animation section!
Edited to add... This isn't really my thing, I'm just pointing out what looks like the potential for a change in direction by Netflix. |

Strange . . . I thought NetFlix delivered to everyone. So I guess Countdown: Akira Complex, La Blue Girl and Twin Angels is a no go where you are, huh? I mean they're not really guro (maybe La Blue Girl is) but since they allowed Overfiend if the above weren't distributed before, they should be now.
