Good to see a director having some dignity. I was already interested in this show, but now I'm going to watch strictly on principle. The anime industry needs more guys like this.

Hopefully it works out for them. It's nice to see a production being allowed to take some risks.

A lil moe is fine here and there, even I watch some. Hell most of Madoka's fanbase are your standard otaku.

Still, anime needs more directors like these, fighting against the over saturation of it. I look forward to this show and hope it lives up to this bold statement

Good thing they banned it, it's over used anyway. BUT, if you set out to defy all the trends, you'd better bring your A game, otherwise you run the BIG risk of losing your paying crowd. You cannot make something financially successful if you don't pander so someone. I wish them the best of luck, and I hope the anime will be a good one. And not in a "OMG, I can belive they're pulling this shit" way.

Sorry, but nope. The answers are sexist as hell.

Motohiro also acknowledged that the staff has a very masculine mindset and their meetings were full of talk about weapons and movies.

So girls can't like weapons and movies now? Really?

Also, if they are set in being so masculine, why hire Amano for character designs...

THIS.

I'm only watching this damned show for Amano's designs...and her main character is a freaking moe character and they tell her to do the artwork and expect no "moe" to come out of it? Good luck with that.

So not only do I have the writer on my supposed hate-list, but also the director...I wonder how long I can stand this show just on Amano's designs alone.

Rape count in episode 1: At least 2

So yeah, "moe" banned, but rape is A-OK!

I don't think they were saying women can't/won't watch, just that they won't go out of their way to appeal to things that women usually like, such as romance and slash-able male characters. I'm a woman and I'd watch it but the story doesn't seem that interesting to me.

That there are at least two rapes in the first episode of Psycho-Pass.

How was that a complicated statement?

I wouldn't get upset based upon ANN's summary of the interview alone. We don't know if the director said the staff had a masculine mindset, if that's a term the interviewer used, or if it's just ANN's characterization of what they said. Given that the promo art shows three female character, two of whom are toting guns, I doubt the staff thinks guns are purely a male domain.
