Just as the title inplies, what do you guys think the is the most explict U.S. release of a manga (rated OT or M). By U.S. release I don't mean Amerimanga or whatever they call it, I mean in English.
For OT I think either Mahoromatic, Hellsing, or Saiyuki.
I don't own any M rated titles so that part's up to you.

I suppose Berserk would probobly be the most graphic series to see a US release up to this point, with extreme violence and sex scenes that come about as close as mainstream manga comes to porn. Of course this doesn't even come close to the level of depravity reached by Ichi the Killer, but I doubt we'll ever see that series get licenced.

Battle Royale. It makes Berserk's violence and sex look tame. This series goes into graphic detail of peoples' organs when they are shot or decaptitated. Oh and did I mention that the people killing and being killed are High Schoolers? And a particular side story and some flashbacks pretty much ARE porn.
I won't put Mahoromatic anywhere near the most explicit. It's got naked boobs and some innuendo and the violence isn't bad at all.
Hellsing is extremely gory, but no sex in sight. While it is extremely gory, it isn't particularly explicit.

Oh, I forgot about Battle Royale (lets face it, the manga is hardly memorable.) Alot of the reason why it's so hard to look at is the grotesque style of the artist.

I wouldn't think to put Saiyuki on a "most explicit" list. Sure, there's blood, but it's pretty PG-13 for the most part. OT is an appropriate rating, IMO, but I've seen worse in terms of gore and nudity. Although I do agree with Hellsing. (I haven't seen the other titles mentioned yet.)
I'm gonna add Blade of the Immortal. Wonderful series, but it's squicked me on more than one occasion. Most of it coming from Shira who enjoys inflicting as much pain as possible on his opponents and victims. Then there was the scene right before Manji cut off his arm while he was torturing that decoy woman.

apocalypse zero is my nominee for most explicit. its also just one of the worst mangas I've read. there is gratuitous violence and genitalia. + a penis dragon.

Well, personally, I think it's pretty good. Not the best ever by any means. And while the art style woudn't work in most cases, I think it works for this story. The manga is based on a movie and the manga tries to reflect that through a more 'realistic' art style. And it also fits the dark tone of the series.

I also go with Battle Royale, it's the most explicit thing I've ever seen, so much that even though I was interested in the story, I don't think I could stomach reading the rest of it.

Heh heh, I could never agree with that
I second Apocalypse Zero. It fits perfectly in the 'Violence for violences sake' category. The old-school artwork makes it even more disturbing, it's like seeing Astro Boy parodied by a gore-obsessed pervert. I agree it's not a very good read, but it's nice brainless fun when you're in the right mood.

Just so you guys know, when I said Mahoromatic and Saiyuki, I meant that they were pretty bad for only being OT. Mahoromatic has WAY too much random nudity and Saiyuki's gore is detailed for an OT manga (in terms of showing the intestines as someone either being eaten of chopped up), and they curse a lot.
I completely agree with what all of you said though. A lot of the stuff in Berserk and Battle Royal is basically just porn.

Aah, I see. I missed the point.
In that case, in the OT category I'm going to add GetBackers. The gore is roughly in the same league as Saiyuki. But it's got that random nudity thing going. Women tend to get their clothes shredded in battle quite a bit. Especially Himiko. First Ban, then the fake Kazuki, then Kagami... I've gotten into the habit of flipping through new volumes and wondering which girl's chest we're gonna see this time.

The most explicit OT manga I've ever seen is Outlanders by Johji Manabe. Lots of fanservice, bloody violence, etc.
As for most explicit M manga, I'd say pretty much anything by Toshio Maeda.........especially Urotsukidoji.

In terms of manga available in the USA, it's gotta be Battle Royale...and the violence and sex is made worse by the fact that everyone's supposed to be 15.
The runner up would be Berserk, the greatest manga ever written.
If Koroshiya Ichi is ever licensed it'll be up there and the same goes for Gantz...I scanlate Gantz and it's a pretty damn bloody series.

As far as I'm concerned, Ichi the Killer and Battle Royale would end in a tie for most explicit manga. Berserk doesn't even come close to them. I could suggest another manga, which won't come out in the U.S., "Shokugyokoroshiya" (Spider Sniper)
My thanks to Arkard for correcting me.
