Is ANN (especially the forums,) having some problem with their server/host (I'm not too great on the technical details of how websites work,) at first I assumed it was loading slowly due to my internet connection, but it seems that other websites and forums are loading at a reasonable speed and so I was wondering if ANN was having some server problems over the last couple of days.
Anyway, was just wondering if anything was wrong or whether it really was something to do with me? Is anyone having really slow loading times just to read posts?

ANN's forums have almost always been slow for me. Seriously. They'll get faster for a bit and then they'll get slow again. As somebody who has worked with databases before I'm guessing theirs needs a serious tune-up.
They should look at the data structure, the front-end queries, and the network bandwidth/latency. My suggestion to ANN is to start a trace running and then review where the system is getting bogged down. Slowly start resolving each bottleneck until the system is running well again.
Anime forums are extremely low-volume compared to most of the other forums I visit, so there's really no reason for them to be as slow as ANN's. At least, that's my view.

Yeah, it would hang on the ad space, right below and upper right. Everything is running good now, but that was mostly this weekend.

These few days, I had difficulty coming to the site. It gives me some message saying I typed in the site wrong. I double checked my spelling and I see no errors. When I arrive at the site (after ten minutes of so), it loads slowly at everything I try to do. It includes looking at topics, signing in, attempting to make a post.
Right now, it is working okay. These past few days at the site have been weird.

Ever since (I think it was Friday) the site went down last week, everything has been running much slower than it did before for me as well.

Trust me, it's ANN. I've visited lots of forums and none of them have ever been as consistently slow as ANN. It's a free service so there's nothing to really complain about, but I'd still wish they'd give us more information on what the issue is. I guess I'm just the curious type.

There is something definetly going on because it is taking a couple of minutes just to look at a thread from where I'm at.

Last week it would let me on to the site off and on. When it did let me on it took about 10 minutes to load the thread, but I waited. It also kicked me off a few times but I think that was just my internet (netscape some times does that.)

It's working better now, for me at least. It's still slow some of time, but only about as much as usual. I didn't realize the server went down on Friday. I guess they had to do a quick fixer-upper and wait until Otakon was over to get it working normally.

I'm in a computer lab, and when I tried to get on ANN on one computer, it said page currently unavailable. Then I went to the one right next to it and now it's doing totally fine.

It should be fixed now. A few days ago the server had a hiccup and we tried rebooting it. Apparently there's a problem at boot time, where the network connection is recognized as half-duplex even though it should be full-duplex.

Yup, that's why people stopped posting to this thread 5 days ago after Dan42 said it was fixed.
