Anime-Net, the database were we could rate the anime titles we've seen and get a list of recommendations based on the ratings issued by others is now shut down. Lack of funding is the main reason given. It's too bad, I really liked the concept and I always looked forward to adding a rating to every new anime I would see.
Here's the URL: anime.madwuv.net

What's the point of posting the URL when you know the site is gone? It serves no purpose whatsoever. But it is a shame to see an anime based site go away.

*Frown* It's a real shame that one bit the dust. I don't know of anything out there that has ratings/personalized recommendations as good or useful as the ones Anime-Net once featured.

They had a small message posted regarding their demise. I thought people might want to read it. If you think 16 7-bit characters is too much wasted bandwidth, go ahead and bash me. It's fine.

I know they had a little page up, I went and saw it. I was just saying that it was pointless to put up the URL to a dead site when you knew full well that all they had was a line of text stating that they were gone, especially when your own message pretty much summed up what they said. Rather than posting the link, copying and pasting what the page said into a post would have been beter, especially since your link didn't even work and had to be pasted into the address bar.
Getting back on topic though, what other sites are out there that even come close to the same "service" Anime-net offfered.

The only "service" that comes close may be Amazon.com's rating system but that of course doesn't focus mainly on anime.
Anyway, I'll keep what you said in mind because it's good to know. But I would prefer if you would let the moderators tell me when I'm in breach of the rules.
