Ok, I'm being really stupid. I think if it says "we have 12 of 12 episodes" than means you can watch them, but I can't figure out how, or if that's even what it means. Help?

Um, as the Encyclopedia itself says, one is the number of total episodes in the series, and the other is the number of episodes for which ANN has the actual TITLES listed. Nowhere does it say that ANN allows you to watch any episodes, nor do I have any idea where you would've gotten such an idea.

Nope. When they say that they have 12 of 12 episodes they mean titles. You can't watch anime on this site. But you can read about it and get info.

To be fair, the "We have X" text is a bit confusing. Maybe we ought to consider a different wording -- if for no other reason than that this question keeps popping up, and is annoying every time.

I suppose it can be a bit confusing but when you click on the "we have x" link one of the first things at the top of the page is:
| Quote: | | We are NOT a download site! None of those episodes are available for download! |
I think by this point it should be pretty clear... Although I suppose some people probably expect it to mean that since "We are NOT a download site!" it must be a streaming video site instead.
ETA: Oh and that is exactly how it reads. It should probably be changed to "None of these episodes..." instead.

What if you make the words “Episode titles” a link that takes you to the page listing all the episode titles? Actually, you can have it immediately following the words “Number of episodes”, similar to what you’ve done for the User Ratings detail.

- abunai | I'll agree, that is a bit confusing. Maybe changing the disclaimer to "We are NOT a download or a streaming video site! None of these episodes are available for download, and they can't be watched here either!" would work. Gotta keep up with the changing times and the increased popularity of streaming-video sites.

For what it's worth I think it'd be best to just drop the "We have..." line.
Even knowing full well that ANN was only an anime news and info site, I still was confused by the "we have" comment when I first started reading here. It's the equivalent of saying, "We do not have any apples here whatsoever" in one spot and then saying, "Here are our apples" in another.
Can't imagine there'd be a readability problem with just removing the "we have" part entirely and leaving a clickable number as the link. If folks feel that makes the link too small to easily click, you could easily pad it with "XX known" or "XX (click for list)" or something similar.

Dont sweat it dude. I can see where people could easilly make that mistake.
I guess it looks like Zalis was right. Perhaps we should add something about streamed video to the disclaimer.

So for the technical people here at ANN, would the setup of episode titles as a link work to clear up confusion?

nah this would just make to much sense. instead people would like to get upset rather then see what error has been made and is in need of fixing. how is it stupid to think when some one says hey i have x of x# that the belive that it means what it has meant for hundreds of years. (ie. i have 5 of 10 rolls of bread..... so of corse this MUST mean i have French, Italian, German sourdough, and crossiant out of 10 types of bread.).. NOT
