thats an interesting point, 1080 is fine, top of the line. animation does not need all that visual enhancement, its already to a point where its nearly impossible to find any quality issues with blu-ray. for video games sure, but what can 4k do with animation? thats more for 3d movies.

If you're after 4K 3D then you'll be out of luck. The current 4K standards do not include 3D. I think the thing that will make a bigger difference for anime rather than 4K is HDR, which only comes with 4K.

Do they break it up like netflix ?

SD vs Blu-ray

different price plans depending on the format? or just one price for all formats?

4K blu-ray movies are coming out --$30 a movie..:/ but i doubt we would get 4K anime any time soon or 4K is really needed for animation ??

Hmm...I have a yearly subscription to both Crunchyroll and Funimation, and I mostly watch shows subbed in order to keep up with weekly discussions. Neither Funimation nor Crunchyroll have indicated that *all* Funimation's subbed anime will be hosted on Crunchyroll, in fact, as far as I can tell, they haven't been clear on exactly which titles will be hosted on which site. I'll give them a few months to figure things out, but I'm a little disappointed that only Funimation's monthly fee will be reduced.

Also, I still think we should call this partnership "Fun & Crunchy"! Laughing

they are pushing 4K even further in 2016

but it's still expensive for decade old tech (LCD)-- they should just focus on OLED instead

anyway.. most series/movies on Funimation are 1080p ?

With most of their subtitled catalog moving to CR, I expected them to change their business model regarding the subscriptions.

Ah, capitalism... Anyway, I have the All-Access Subscription, so I'm personally glad about the lower costs.

This explains at least why PayPal sent me an email about a change. I did not understand at first because I have a yearly All-Access pass purchased in December 2015 and there was no change to the amount. Now I see it was due to the change in name only.

Fortunately I have a few months to gauge what will be happening; since I rarely ever watch dubs I need to see if all FUNimation shows will have the subtitled versions on CR. I'm not sure it would be worth keeping both subscriptions just to be able to check out some older shows around the holidays (to see if I want to purchase any from the holiday sales). Then again, $60 isn't that huge an amount, it's just that I'll have 3 subscriptions coming due in Nov-Dec (FUNimation, CR and Amazon Prime (the latter two of which I definitely plan to keep)).

Hmm, $71.88 total for $5.99 a month, vs $59.99 for yearly. What's the problem again? Some in this thread don't seem to know their math?

That's dissapointing, I recently started using Funi for subs because of no commercials and a simple website design that doesn't give my laptop problems like Crunchy...

I vastly prefer Crunchyroll's player to FUNimation's. On the former, it automatically keeps track of how far along I am in a particular series and, if I'm a bit behind and playing catch-up, it continues automatically to the next episode (allowing me time to stop it if I wish to). Funi's player keeps track of nothing and stops after every episode so I have to go through several steps again to get to the next episode. It also requires me to choose my resolution every time I play an episode unlike CR which remembers my preferred resolution (since I mainly watch on my HDTV using my Roku I keep it at highest resolution, my laptop and tablet both have HD displays as well).

I'm happy it seems Crunchyroll is using Funimation's font size for their shows.

I've never been a fan of how big CR has theirs.

it actually does do that, you just have to do a little searching to find it. you need to go to the show's individual home page, then click the home tab and on the right you should see a picture of the most recent episode you were on with a status bar showing how much of the ep you watched

I dont think they all will, considering key shows haven't been mentioned to be moving over (like Dangan3, Cheer Boys, Tales of Zestiria). Will be curious how Fall season and Winter will be handled, as well as series with second halves/seasons like Tales of Zestiria

Wait are all their subs moving even their old catalog? What about some of their shows like Fairy Tail which isn't fully dubbed yet.
