For me it's Usopp followed closely by Sanji.
What I like about Usopp is his lies and how really brave he is. The attacks he comes up with are awesome and I love how he's always inventing new weapons. Sanji on the other hand is cool because of his personality. His dialogue is awesome and it's translated really well by Viz. I love it when Usopp and him are about to attack the uninvited guest shortly after leaving Whiskey Peak. "Do you know what's going on?" "No." And the rapport between the two when they first meet. "You haven't even cleared my plate!" "There are mushrooms on it. Eat them!!" "I don't like mushrooms! I ate a poison mushroom once when I was a kid!" "Well those aren't poisonous, so eat every bite long nose!!" |

I would have to say that my favorite character from One Piece is Zoro. Though I don't think it's official, I consider him to be the 2nd in command on board the Strawhats' ship, because he has this relationship with Luffy that has been built on trust and utter madness (meaning they're crazy to be doing what they're doing) since the day they first met. They are pretty equal to each other, but Zoro respects Luffy, and often times can sense something about Luffy that the others can't. And in that sense I can give respect to Zoro for his ignorance of some things and willingness to push through a situation even when it looks grim.

We try to be at least somewhat open to what people want to talk about... but what we really don't need are "favorite character" threads; they just end up being inane conversations, without exception. They're one of the few topics related to anime we just don't allow here. It fits in pretty nicely with rule 3.
