Man, here we go. I was so excited for this sequel and now it appears to have been delayed. I wonder if they're going to release any statement as to why it has been delayed.

Is FMP hated in Japan or adapting the novels take a lot of work due to its use of mechas?

I think as i saw around that for now it is only delayed and not canceled. So ye will need to wait probably until 2018. |

It's been a decade. A bit longer isn't going to kill anyone.
The latter. Xebec's really good at mecha shows for the most part so they probably know what it takes; Exodus ended up being delayed quite a bit (it was announced at the opening or home video release for Heaven and Earth, can't remember which) and ended up both being really damn good (yet overlooked in the West because of the requirements of 10 year old show, an OVA prequel and a movie) and quite a looker. Considering how mecha centric the latter bits of FMP get, I'm going to assume this is just them taking those extra precautions to make sure everything's up to snuff. |

*Sigh* Well there's one less good show for fall now to look forward to. Hopefully, they can get their act together soon and release this. I really want to see it badly.

I bet it has to do with the lack of animators issue currently going on in the industry. Sucks so much.

The latter is part of it. As well as just the overall condition of the industry being so bad. Too few workers, too much anime. It's a problem. It sucks when things get delayed, but I think it's for the best. We need fewer shows per season consistently so these guys aren't worked to death more than they already are. |

I hope they release a preview soon. Give me some glimmer of hope that this is actually a project in the works rather than something stuck in anime development hell.

It'll be easier for me if I just tell myself it's not happening anymore.
As an aside, I find it pretty discourteous of them to not even tell us that it is delayed though. It's like they're trying to delay it on the sly hoping that no one notices. If that's the level of common sense operating in the industry, no wonder it's so bad. |

A bit disappointing, but it's not the end of the world. They probably just need more time to improve the GCI for the mecha.
